British Red Cross | Rebuilding Lives

Launching in Refugee Week 2019, I wrote, produced, directed and edited this film which sat at the heart of the British Red Cross’ 2019 campaign #EveryRefugeeMatters. The film visualises how it feels for refugees to leave pieces of themselves behind when they seek refuge. Goals for the campaign included national news coverage, engagement from MPs and driving traffic to a dedicated Facebook page for updates on BRC’s work with refugees.

The film went on to become BRC’s most shared video ever on Instagram and Twitter. The campaign achieved six pieces of national news coverage (plus 22 regional) and over 40 MPs attended a screening of the film, including then Immigration Minister Caroline Noakes.

results

The film exceeded all targets set by BRC. In addition to being shared by celebrities like Gary Lineker and Jason Isaacs, the film appeared on news sites like the Independent, reaching millions.

An OOH media campaign using footage from the film appeared in 25 of the UK’s largest train stations, achieving a further 9 million impressions and reaching 81% of BRC’s target audience.

The campaign has received multiple awards including Gold for Best Video Campaign at the Drum Social Purpose Awards - our second year in a row to receive the award.

Most importantly, the film allowed BRC to owned over half of all conversations about Refugee Week on Twitter in 2019.
